Sketchbook films and Duck Day

Posted by CameronMc - July 7th, 2013

SO... you watched Duck Day. Or you didn't, s'cool, but I just wanna say how cool sketchbook films are! You get a chance to tell a quick story in a cool aesthetic, but don't listen to me, listen to this fantastic making of by Fran Krause!

Duck Day was an interesting trial run. I haven't finished any stories in a while, so putting this on out, as bad as it, was a nice relief! Just getting an idea out in a way that is purposely unpolished is really nice as a way to get the process rolling! I've got some bigger stories rolling, but putting out something like a sketchbook film (and mine was probably too long) is a great way to finish something!

I really liked your flick dude! It had a solid beginning, middle and end. Maybe a tad bit long, but I still enjoyed every second of it.
Well done!

Thanks man! The actual arc is probably the think I spent the longest time working on (and the most important part of any animation IMHO) so I'm glad you liked it!

I don't know if anyone actually noticed (though I don't really expect them to) but if you read the other articles in the paper the climax makes a little more sense. :)
